Song for a Working Boy

I love working sheep! W396xH275
I'm Bringing in the Sheep!

SONG FOR A WORKING BOY
written for me by Tony Di Bartolo, my Dad

to the tune of "Camptown Races"

Just Another Blue Eyed Dog - Do dah do dah
Believe that, you don't know me - Oh do dah day
Come by, oh yes away to me - Do dah do dah
A herding dog is what I be - Oh do dah day

Fetch the sheep at night
Drive the sheep all day
Love my job as a working dog
All the do dah day

Gather sheep from far and wide - Do dah do dah
Move them to the shepherds side - Oh do dah day
Heavy stock don't bother me - Do dah do dah
Light stock they so quickly flee - Oh do dah day

Never grip or bark
I don't stare in their eyes
Keep them in a little group
All the do dah day

Tore my toenail out it's true - Do dah do dah
Didn't stop this Aussie blue - Oh do dah day
Battle scars, I'm a working boy - Do dah do dah
Wearing sheep is my biggest joy - Oh do dah day

Tough against a ram
So gentle with a lamb
I love to work those wooly butts
All the do dah day

Aussie friends, to be happy - Do dah do dah
Become a working dog like me - Oh do dah day
AfterHours Blue Moon Eyes - Do dah do dah
H C T, it's no surprise - Oh do dah day

Gonna herd all night
Gonna herd all day
Get the sheep into the pen
All the do dah day

Authors Note: This song (sorry Mr. Foster) was written in Moby the great white van on the way home from a herding trial in Argyle NY, where Eli earned his first herding title (HCT, Herding Capability Tested) from American Herding Breed Association.

The Australian Shepherd, despite its name, is an American developed breed, and the only American bred herding dog. Eli is not truly a working boy, but herding is what he likes to do most of all.
